The Toque Head Guard

A knitted hat made from 100% silver fibre. Silver is permanently bonded to the fibre surface, so the fabric keeps normal textile properties while remaining conductive throughout.

These figures are the fabric manufacturer's stated specifications for the material, measured on the fabric itself. We will send you the underlying documentation on request. Note that a finished garment is not a sealed enclosure and does not perform as the flat fabric does — see below.

How it works

A dense conductive mesh throughout the knit reflects and absorbs incident radio-frequency energy, so less of it passes through to the area beneath.

Coverage

The hat attenuates RF energy reaching the area it covers, while in place and intact. It has an opening — your face — and signal passes through openings. Conductive textiles also do not shield low-frequency magnetic fields.

Care — important for keeping the shielding intact

1. Wash in well water, mineral water or purified water to reduce oxidation.
2. Use a small amount of neutral detergent and wash briefly. Do not use acidic or standard laundry detergents.
3. Do not rub, machine wash or bleach.
4. Do not wring. Hang in a ventilated, dry room away from direct sunlight.
5. Wash as infrequently as practical — every wash reduces shielding effectiveness slightly.
